Botworld is one of the best monster taming games for mobile to date and it is surprisingly going to be available on the Nintendo Switch and Steam. That's right, you can now play Botworld (known as Botworld Odyssey) on your Steam Deck!
The gameplay is nearly identical to the mobile title with a few minor adjustments that I'll summarize for you and provide some answers to frequently asked questions about the game.
There are no Season Passes or Gems in Botworld Odyssey - Since the game is a premium, standalone title, there are no microtransactions.
You are no longer limited in runs - In Odyssey, you won't be limited to a set number of jetpacks; instead, you can explore to your heart's content with no restrictions.
Less reliance on luck for Botframes - Instead of hours and hours of RNG, like when attempting to unlock Virus in Botworld Adventure, you can now defeat an Alpha Bot and obtain a Botframe of its species.
No more ads - As you'd expect from a premium title, there are no more ads to sit through.
At present, Botworld Odyssey is not compatible with Mac. The Steam release will only work on Windows machines.
Yes, Botworld runs smoothly on the Steam Deck. During my playthrough of the demo, it ran without issue and most of the controls worked. I did notice a small issue that occurred when trying to use my thumbsticks to customize my player in the beginning of the game.
No matter what I did, navigation with the thumbstick would always be one row below where I wanted it to be. The same applies to the directional pad. But it's a small annoyance that's simple enough to get used to.
No, you cannot transfer Bots, Botframes, Coins, or any other data from Botworld Adventure to Botworld Odyssey. There is no crossplay with Botworld Adventure. The games, while similar, exist in completely different worlds with no way to interact with each other.
Once you start your journey in Odyssey, you'll be doing so from scratch without your faithful companions from the mobile title.
You cannot transfer any progress between your Switch and Steam accounts. Unlike games like Coromon or Temtem, each game will require separate save files.
Botworld Odyssey will be a digital release when it comes out on the Nintendo Switch. At present, the developers have not announced any plans for a physical copy. So, you'll need to make a little room on your SD card for the title.
Unlike the mobile title, there are no recruits in Botworld Odyssey. The game will still provide a means for you to unlock the various goods the recruits help you with, however.
Yes, cosmetics are in Botworld Odyssey and receive a buff. In addition to looking cool, some give your Bot a much-needed boost in stats. According to the developers, these boosts can increase loot and help you earn more tokens.
I've been playing Botworld Adventure for years now, and it is my favorite mobile title around. But, admittedly, I hate most mobile games. I don't like eternal grinding, and the whole pay-to-win aspect ruins the fun of the game for me.
I'd much rather pay the $30 or $40 one time and enjoy the full experience of the game. Fortunately, the developers have made mine and many others' dream come true with this welcomed transition to console and Steam!
