Car Name Generator

Dodge Charger Names

There is nothing quite like the bond a man forms with their car. To many, it's much more than a gasoline-powered means of transportation. It's an expression of self, an escape from harsh realities, and for me at least, a mobile workstation.

A machine as precious as your car should not go nameless for long. This is where my car name creator comes in. To get started, choose the description that matches your car closest from the dropdown below. Next, click the 'Give me car names!' button to receive a set of 10 new names.

I've got you started with the first 10 names based on my personal daily driver, an American classic, a Dodge Charger 5.7 Hemi V8. Once you've decided on a name, keep on scrolling to see what the name of my car is and for more auto-loving content.

How to come up with a good car name

Thinking of a good name for your beloved vehicle isn't nearly as complicated as naming a child. You won't need to petition the courts or do any sort of paperwork to change the name if you outgrow it, so feel free to get as weird and creative as you want.

When I purchased my Dodge Charger, the name that I immediately called it was 'Chargie'. The name was simple yet summarized exactly how I felt about the vehicle. I've wanted a Hemi-powered Charger ever since I was a kid, and when I finally got enough money to afford one, I knew it would be sort of like a mechanical child of mine.

Thus, I christened the American classic 'Chargie', and we set out on years of journeys together. To help you do the same, use a few of the names this generator produces and combine them with some features of the car. If you've got a new Tesla Model Y in your driveway, call her Tessa!

Why are all cars girls?

Calling cars girls is a tradition that goes back centuries and originates with sailors. Seafarers often referred to their vessels as women. This is likely due to the way you must nurture and care for them. I theorize that we assume our cars are women because they have problems and provide no information as to the root cause, and it's up to you to diagnose and fix it (totally joking, don't cancel me).

Nowadays, people refer to cars as whatever gender or identity they want. I still call my car a lady, but there are many who assign male names to their cars.
