How To Use Pawmot

Pawmot is the most useful "Pika-Clone" to date. It has a rare typing of Electric and Fighting, which really should have gone to Electivre as well.

In addition, he has access to the move Revival Blessing. This move allows you to revive a fallen team member in a battle.

Prior to Generation 9, there was no way to revive any Pokemon that fainted in a PvP setting. Bringing your sweeper back for another round late game can make all the difference in the competitive scene.

The move only has a max PP of 1, however. And if you wondering if what Revival Blessing's max PP is, the answer is 1.

You cannot increase it beyond 1, no matter how many PP Ups you use on it. Other than being able to raise the dead, Pawmot has the stats of your standard physical sweeper.

Its base speed is 105 and it has a nice base attack of 115. Pawmot's move pool is very diverse with access to elemental punches, priority moves like Fake Out and Mach Punch, and support moves like Wish.

What is the best Pawmot move set?

Pawmot has tons of moves to choose from and access to 3 viable abilities. Here are the best sets for each of its abilities.

Tera Type: Not really needed but Steel or Flying works well to counter its major weaknesses (Fairy and Ground). The best ability for Pawmot is Iron Fist as it boosts the power of its Elemental Punches and Close Combat. The best item for Pawmot when using this set is either a Life Orb or Muscle Band.

The Adorable Iron Fist

Ability: Iron Fist

Held Item: Life Orb or Muscle Band

EV Spread: 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP - The best nature for Pawmot for this set is Jolly (+ Speed / - Special Attack).

Move Power Type Accuracy Effect
Thunder Punch 75 Electric 100 Has a chance to paralyze
Ice Punch 75 Ice 100 Has a chance to freeze
Fake Out 40 Normal 100 Only works on the first turn and causes the opponent to flinch.
Close Combat 120 Fighting 100 Drops Pawmot's Defense and Special Defense by 1 stage

Fake out is always a nice way to get chip damage and cause your opponent to waste a turn. It's also a nice way to let poison and/or burn damage rack up.

Ice Punch is there so Pawmot is not walled by Ground types, but if you are more concerned with Dragons, Play Rough is a viable alternative.

Monster Reborn

Ability: Volt Absorb or Natural Cure

Held Item: Leftovers

EV Spread: 252 HP / 252 Speed / 4 HP - The best nature for Pawmot for this set is Jolly (+ Speed / - Special Attack).

Move Power Type Accuracy Effect
Brick Break 75 Fighting 100 Breaks through Light Screen and Reflect
Wish - Normal 100 Restore 1/2 of the user' HP after one turn to the user itself or his/her replacement
Fake Out 40 Normal 100 Only works on the first turn and causes the opponent to flinch.
Revival Blessing - Normal 100 Revives one fainted Team member

This set fits well on stall teams that need wish support. Also, when running the ability Natural Cure you can use Pawmot as a status sponge absorbing any burns, poison, or paralyses that comes your way.

Revival Blessing allwos you bring a Pokemon back from the dead and Wish lets you heal teammates whenever needed. So you don't get completely walled by Ghost types, you can swap out Brick Break for Thunder Punch/Wild Charge.

On either set, you can replace any coverage move for Revival Blessing without too much of an issue.

Overall, Pawmot is a decent Pokemon with some really fun movesets to run. It certainly is not the strongest or fastest option but it does have one of the most unique moves ever invented.
