Shiny Odds Calculator
Catching shiny Pokemon was something I never really had the patience for. In fact, the majority of shiny creatures I have, came from events, GameStop promos, or transfers from Pokemon Go. The odds were just too slim for my taste. But this all changed in the 9th generation of Pokemon.
In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are a number of multipliers that stack together to allow you capture shiny Pokemon at a much higher rate. What is the easiest way to get shiny Pokemon?
By far, the easiest method for getting shiny Pokemon is through Pokemon Go Community days. Granted, you won't be able to choose the shiny Pokemon you get but you are almost guaranteed to encounter multiple shinies from just an hour or so of playing. And you'll clock a good amount of steps to make your Apple Watch happy.
Pokemon Community Days generally come once a month and involve high spawn rates for the featured Pokemon. This method is the slowest, depending on the monster you want but is the most successful legitimate way to obtain a shiny Pokemon.
There are also events scattered throughout the year that provide download codes for various shinies. These are less frequent than Pokemon Community Days, however. But you may get lucky, just be sure to follow the Pokemon Company or other outlets on social media for updates. This method was how I obtained one of my favorite shinies, a Super Saiyan Lucario!
The easiest, non-legit way to Shiny Pokemon
If you don't want to wait for community days or in-game events, you can always buy whatever Pokemon you want online. I won't link any of the sites here but if you head over to your favorite search engine, you're sure to find a few options. Just be careful when making these types of transactions as there are thousands of scammers out there.
If you've never made such a purchase here is how the process generally goes.
- You place an order for all the Pokemon you want.
- Next, you enter your trainer code or other unique indentifier for your Pokemon game.
- On your game, prepare a Pokemon you don't care about for trading. You will need this in order to complete the transaction.
- Once your payment goes through, the seller will initate a trade and you'll have the shiny of your dreams.
A word of caution: Pokemon obtained through this method may be eligible for online tournaments. Most should be legal for local battles, however. Use of these Pokemon may result in bans from participating in official events, so use wisely!
Legit or not, Shinies are easier than ever to obtain
Whether you choose a shady or sanctioned route for shiny farming, it's never been easier to obtain a shiny pocket monster. Always exercise caution when engaging in Team Rocket-like activities and keep your eye out for shiny giveaways from the Pokemon Company.
