Eclyptor has always been a popular Coromon due to its awesome design paired with its high speed and special attack. The only complaint I ever had about it was its lack of diversity in its move pool.
Those complaints are no longer valid since Eclyptor gained some additional attack strength and new moves with the Coromon 1.1.0 update. Its defenses are still lacking but its Trait, Menacing helps patch its Physical defense significantly.
The best Trait for Eclyptor is Menacing. This trait lowers the physical attack of an opposing Coromon whenever Eclyptor comes into battle. It has other cool traits at its disposal but being able to add some bulk is vital in keeping him alive as long as possible.
Its other trait, Dark Atmosphere triggers Twilight whenever it enters the field. Twilight in Coromon reduces the accuracy of all non-ghost type Coromon by 10%. Accuracy reduction can be useful and really annoying for the opponent.
It is a viable alternative if you are running a squad centered around causing as much mental anguish to your opponent as humanly possible. But, if you value longevity for your Coromon and your opponent's mental well-being, roll with Menacing.
If you want to Enhance this trait, here is what you can expect.
Trait Name | Buff | De-Buff |
---|---|---|
Menacing | Lowers opposing Coromon's physical attack by one stage. | - |
Menacing+ | Lowers opposing Coromon's physical attack by one stage. Opponents now require 2 more SP to use skills. | -10% Attack, -25% Special Attack, -25% Special Defense |
Menacing++ | Lowers opposing Coromon's physical attack by two stages. Opponents now require 3 more SP to use skills. | -15% HP, -20% Attack, -25% Special Attack, -30% Speed, -30% Special Defense |
If the Coromon community ever comes up with a "little cup" or something similar, I can see these traits receiving a fair bit of use. The only worthwhile enhancement in my opinion is Menacing++ as it can severely debuff a sweeper instantly.
I probably would not use either Trait in a ranked battle since the de-buffs are not worth the ability to reduce my opponent's attack and marginally increase their SP usage.
Eclyptor can function well as a dedicated special attacker and a mixed attacker. Here are the two movesets I run on Eclyptor.
Move | Type | Power/SP/Accuracy | Effect |
---|---|---|---|
Illusion Slice | Cut / Special | 100 / 7SP / - | Attack always hits under normal circumstances |
Soul Crush | Magic / Physical | 80 / 6SP / 95% | Lowers the opposing Coromon's special attack by 1 stage. |
Ball Of Darknesss | Ghost / Special | 85 / 6SP / 100% | 25% change of raising your special attack by 1 stage. |
Crunch | Foul / Physical | 90 / 6SP / 95% | 25% change of making the target bleed. |
This set gives Eclyptor great coverage and allows you to utilize its newly buffed physical attack. Another vial option would be include the move Howl which boosts Eclyptor's physical attack by 2 stages.
Move | Type | Power/SP/Accuracy | Effect |
---|---|---|---|
Illusion Slice | Cut / Special | 100 / 7SP / - | Attack always hits under normal circumstances |
Premonition | Ghost / Special | 125 / 5SP / 100% | After 2 rounds a powerful Ghost type move will smash into your opponent. |
Ball Of Darknesss | Ghost / Special | 85 / 6SP / 100% | 25% change of raising your special attack by 1 stage. |
Moonlight | Ghost / Status | - / 7SP / - | Heal 20% of your HP and boost your special defense by one stage. |
The Potential Point spread for Eclyptor depends largely on how you plan on using him. However, whether you want him as a mixed attacker or a special attacker, you will want maximum speed.
After dumping about 40% of your points into speed, allocate 40% to your special attack and the remaining to your HP. If you want to go with a mixed set, just split the 40% between the attacking stats.
Given Eclyptor's status as a sweeper, items like Overcharger Gem and the Almo Stone work wonders. Here is a list of my favorite items to run on him.
Name | Effect |
---|---|
Overcharger Gem | Boosts attack power by 25% but SP cost is increase by 5SP |
Almo Stone | Boosts special attack by 50% but only permits use of 1 move. |
Ball Of Darknesss | Ghost / Special |
Moonlight | Ghost / Status |
